{"id":1236,"date":"2016-01-08T14:47:27","date_gmt":"2016-01-08T13:47:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/toshl.com\/blog\/?p=1236"},"modified":"2017-02-20T15:01:01","modified_gmt":"2017-02-20T14:01:01","slug":"language-and-regional-settings-in-toshl-finance","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/toshl.com\/blog\/language-and-regional-settings-in-toshl-finance\/","title":{"rendered":"Language and Regional Settings in Toshl Finance"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><b><br \/>\nLanguages<\/b><\/div>\n<div>Toshl is currently available in 10 languages: <b>English<\/b>, <b>Slovenian<\/b>, <b>Chinese<\/b> &#8211; <b>simplified<\/b>, <b>Chinese<\/b> &#8211; <b>traditional<\/b>, <b>French<\/b>, <b>German<\/b>, <b>Portuguese<\/b> (Brazil), <b>Russian,<\/b>\u00a0<b>Spanish <\/b>and<b> Italian<\/b>.<\/div>\n<div>Both the web app and the native mobile apps are available in these languages. We hope and aim to expand the list of supported languages further in the future.<\/div>\n<div><a href=\"http:\/\/support.toshl.com\">Customer support<\/a> is available in English, Slovenian and French. If you write us in a different language we\u2019ll do our best using <a href=\"http:\/\/translate.google.com\">Google Translate<\/a>, but this can have quite mixed results. One of the languages mentioned above is certainly preferred.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>If you notice a translation in one of our apps that does not seem right to you, please <a href=\"http:\/\/support.toshl.com\">tell us about it<\/a>\u00a0so we can fix it.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<h3><b>How to set a different language?<\/b><\/h3>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><b>Web app<\/b><\/div>\n<div>When you first sign up on Toshl we try to detect which country you\u2019re coming from and set the appropriate language. You can change this setting manually later on.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Go to the <a href=\"https:\/\/toshl.com\/app\/#\/settings\/general\">Settings<\/a>. You will see the setting Web App language in the centre of the \u201cGeneral\u201d section. Your custom categories and tags will stay as they were.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><b>Mobile apps<\/b><\/div>\n<div>In the mobile apps, language is chosen based on the system setting of your phone. Whatever the language of your phone\u2019s operating system, be it Android, iOS or Windows Phone, that language will be used in the Toshl Finance mobile app as well. A manual setting for this is not available in the Toshl app.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><b>Country<\/b><\/div>\n<div>The country setting in the <a href=\"https:\/\/toshl.com\/app\/#\/settings\/general\">Settings<\/a>\u00a0helps us determine which regional settings would be right for you and it is usually detected automatically once you sign up.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Most importantly, it helps the Toshl monsters to pick the amusing comments just for you. They are a bit shy for now, but their big day of unveiling shall soon come. Serbian, for example, is available in both in latin and cyrillic alphabet, with versions for Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/toshl.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/21.png?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"image-border alignnone wp-image-1252\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/toshl.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/21.png?resize=540%2C684&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"2\" width=\"540\" height=\"684\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/toshl.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/21.png?w=744&amp;ssl=1 744w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/toshl.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/21.png?resize=237%2C300&amp;ssl=1 237w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 540px) 100vw, 540px\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<div>What do these settings change?<\/div>\n<div>&#8211; <b>the dates<\/b>: names of days, weeks, months are based on this setting as well as the order in which they are listed.<\/div>\n<div>For example, here is a <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/donohoe\/status\/597876118688026624\">comprehensive list of all the countries that use the MM\/DD\/YYYY format<\/a> with dates.<\/div>\n<div>&#8211; <b>decimal separators<\/b>: when entering an amount, whether you use a decimal comma (4,20) or a decimal point (4.20) depends on this setting. You cannot use both because most languages then use the other sign as a separator between thousands.<\/div>\n<div>&#8211; <b>currency symbol positions<\/b>: whether the currency is displayed before or after the amount and if a space is used. In Slovenia an amount would be written as 4,20 \u20ac, whereas in the United States it would be $4.20.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>We do not yet adapt the start of the week on the little calendar picker on the web, it always starts on Monday. It does not affect anything else though, you can start your weekly budgets on any day you like. The mobile apps adapt the calendar pickers based on your system settings.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><b>Currencies<\/b><\/div>\n<div>Toshl offers the choice of almost any currency you can think of with with fresh exchange rates, 165 currencies. You can set different currencies on expenses, incomes, transfers, financial accounts and have a separate main currency for all the sums and graph.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We take a lot of pride form the fact that Toshl is used almost everywhere around the world.
