Toshl and WebOS

In the light of pessimistic news around WebOS ecosystem, Toshl also decides to move on.

A few hours ago, HP announced that it is pretty much decapitating WebOS platform for mobile phone/tablet devices. This came as a shock to the whole WebOS developer community, known for its stubborn support of this revolutionary OS. The Toshl team was shocked as well.

Toshl, known for its cross platform support, has been developing a version for WebOS since first Palm Pre days. You can still see some screenshots of Toshl for WebOS around the internet, even though the version was never released. During our WebOS development struggle, we received fantastic support from some Palm and later on HP individuals like Ben Ritmeyer, Peter Helm, Adela Gildo-Mazzon, Sean Lindo and many others, and we think nothing but the best of these individuals. They were just awesome. But unfortunately the lack of HP properly backing up the platform finally put a stop to Toshl WebOS development, even though we spent a substantial amount of energy and financial resources on it.

From today on, Toshl WebOS development will no longer exist and Toshl WebOS version will not see a public release. We would like to thank Palm and HP for giving us fantastic support, we would like to thank WebOS community for providing extremely useful coding information and we would like to thank all the WebOS fans for sending us emails of encouragement. We are really sad to say goodbye to WebOS, not only due to once-promising platform facts, but also due to just personal love Toshl team had for this niche platform.

Updated Toshl for BlackBerry is here

New day, new update. We have updated the Toshl expense tracker for the BlackBerry platform. Since the previous release was our first on the BlackBerry platform we have focused most on fixing the small bugs with expenses, budgets and syncing all those nuggets to toshl.com and other devices.

It’s not yet on the BlackBerry App World so you can get it right here on the Toshl for BlackBerry site.

It’s full of goodies and features like the other Toshl mobile apps, so you can use all the comforts of expenses, tags, budgets, export options etc.

We’re planning on finally publishing this version on the BlackBerry App World so we really appreciate your feedback and reports on any bugs that perhaps remain. If you encounter any problems please post them to our support site.

Toshl is in Top 10 business apps in Ovi Stores! (updated)

We’re proud to announce that Toshl is now number one among the business applications for Symbian^3 in the the Ovi Store. We’re super excited about this and would like to thank you, people using Toshl, for your support and valuable feedback.

Update: Turns out we are not No. 1 in Ovi Stores everywhere. Ovi localizes the store based on the IP and we are only in the No. 1. spot in some of them. We are still in Top 10 in most of them though. I’m sorry for the mixup.

If you have a Nokia Symbian^3 phone and still haven’t installed it, wait no more, grab Toshl at the Ovi Store right now! It’s the leading business app on Ovi you know. ;)

It’s nice to introduce yourself, but… Sign in fix is here.
You might have noticed that the initial release of Toshl 1.6 for Symbian had an annoying bug for existing users, demanding that they sign in each time they opened the app. We’re sorry about that and we have submitted the fix right away. Luckily the update has now come through the Ovi Quality Assurance process. So with 1.6.1 the pesky sign in bug shall bother you no more!

Full speed ahead Scottie!
We’re also working on another update which will bring back the bigger and friendlier action buttons, make the interface faster, more responsive and address some minor bugs as well. We’ll be submitting it soon so stay tuned in the next few days.

We have also properly updated our Toshl for Nokia Symbian^3 features site, so you can tell your friends all about it and (hopefully) make them drool over the screenshots.

Nokia E7 with Toshl saving the Queen of EnglandIt sure seems that the Queen of England could use some help these days. Our best wishes to Londoners and hoping for a quick end to the riots from the Toshl team.

New Toshl 1.6 for Symbian^3 preview

There’s a new Toshl for Symbian^3 right around the corner. It’s got plenty of goodies like budgets, foreign currency support for traveling, recurring expenses etc. Try it and you’ll love it.

We have already submitted it to Ovi for quality assurance and we hope it will be online soon. In the meanwhile, you can try it out yourself if you’re the experimentative spirit. The app is finished, but because it’s not verified by Ovi yet, it’s not signed. If you’ve got a way to do that yourself, give it a go.

Update: We have updated Toshl to version 1.6.1 which fixes the issue that required users to sign in each time. Download it below.

What’s new?

Budgets
It’s easy to get carried away on spending, so it’s good to have a buddy tapping you on the shoulder when you’re going overboard. Toshl can do just that, set up a monthly budget for spending and get reminded to stay in budget. If you go Pro, you can even set up budgets for specific tags and weekly and daily timespans, so all that alcohol spending doesn’t go unnoticed. :)

Foreign currencies
When you go traveling it’s not easy to keep track of all your spending in another currency. Toshl makes it easy. While adding an expense, simply choose another currency to enter the expense. Toshl will already know the correct exchange rate for the day, but you can change it to your own if you wish. You can then add expenses in the local currency. Toshl will remember the expense and calculate it to your main currency as well. When you come home, all your expenses will be noted, gathered & converted to your home currency without the hassle.

Recurring expenses
We all have those pesky monthly bills to think of; rent, gym, electricity, internet. Some of them just keep coming up week after, week, month after month. Now you can add them to Toshl right from you phone and they will automatically get added each week, month or year so you can put your mind at ease in advance.
